The acclaimed Company of Dreams comes to Tunbridge Wells this weekend with a special performance of Scheherazade And The 1001 Nights.
This mythical tale promises to be nothing short of spectacular, taking the audience through every kind of emotion – from passion and desire to hatred, anger and betrayal, as it retells the life of the FULL CIRCLE Company of Dreams brave Scheherazade through the medium of dance.
Legend has it she saved the life of every woman in the land after offering herself up to be married to a hateful king – despite knowing he had killed many before her. Scheherazade also knew that, if betrothed, she too could face execution the morning after her marriage.
The Company of Dreams troupe acts out this classic story, which sees Scheherazade telling the king a host of beguiling stories night after night, in order to keep herself alive, through a series of different dance genres including jazz, Latin and even some exotic belly dancing.
As well as this stunning array of mesmerising routines, there is also a fabulous soundtrack plus plenty of powerful props, amazing costumes and impressive visual effects to make this classic tale come alive on stage.
So if you go along, expect fire-eating, sword fighting, genies and demons – and to be on the edge of your seat throughout this magical performance.
