HOSPICES OF HOPE are hosting a breakfast at Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells on October 18, where professional storyteller Rob Caskie will deliver an account of Rorke’s Drift: An Epic Defence of Impossible Odds.
Rob’s tale concerns the fate of 139 British soldiers facing a 4,000-strong contingent of Zulu warriors in South Africa in 1879.
Rob says: “Storytelling may seem like an old-fashioned tool today – and it is. That’s exactly what makes it so powerful. Life happens in the narratives we tell one another.
“A story can go where quantitative analysis is denied admission – our hearts.”
Hospices of Hope, founded by Graham Perolls and based in Otford near Sevenoaks, provides patients in Eastern Europe who are suffering from terminal or life-limiting illness with specialist hospice care so that they can ‘live and die with dignity and without pain’.
The breakfast, supported by Keogh Caisley solicitors and Pettitts Travel, will be held from 8-10am.
Tickets cost £30 and include a full English breakfast. To book, please call 01959 525110.
