Wycombe 0 Tunbridge Wells Men 3

TIME AND SPACE Ben Allberry was given too much freedom

HIGH-flying Tunbridge Wells travelled to Wycombe to take on the side who were lying second behind them in the table.

Wells had the majority of the early possession, working hard to compress their options.

They opened the scoring with a fine reverse-stick shot from the tricky Sam George.

Having taken the lead, Wells weathered a period of Wycombe pressure, James Harris pulling off some excellence saves from short corners.

As the first half drew to a close, a penalty corner was expertly converted by the Ben Allberry after the defence gave him too much time in the circle.

Midway through the second half Chris Pelmore rocketed the ball from a broken down short corner into the back of the net via the underside of the bar to stretch the visitors’ lead.

With time running out Wycombe threw caution to the wind and removed their goalkeeper to gain an extra outfield player, but Wells dealt well with the pressure to secure a crucial win and a clean sheet.

The proud victory sees Wells extend their lead in South Premier League Division Two to six points.

They have three more fixtures before the -Christmas break, beginning with Tulse Hill & Dulwich on Saturday [November 25, 11.30am start] at Tonbridge School.
