A question mark hangs over which boys’ grammar will be selected to support a new Sevenoaks extension after the controversial decision to allow the county council to open a girls’ annexe was granted last month.
Council Leader Paul Carter said the authority was now also ‘working on a boys’ annexe’ at the former Wilderness site in Sevenoaks. He hopes a relaxing of regulations will enable the new initiative to go ahead.
Although the council has not disclosed which school will host the boys’ annexe, it must be associated with an existing grammar, the likely options are thought to be The Judd School in Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys or The Skinners’ School.
However, Skinners’ headmaster Edward Wesson said there was ‘no truth’ in any suggestion they will run the annexe, while a spokesman for Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys said that the Headmaster John Harrison ‘does not wish to comment’ on the development.
The Judd School had not replied at the time of going to press last night.
