Men’s hockey: Graystone on target for Wells in friendly

    Tunbridge Wells Men’s 1st XI 1 Reigate Priory 1st XI 1

TUNBRIDGE WELLS held high hopes of overturning a 6-1 mauling they suffered in their pre-season match at Reigate when they met them again at Kent College in Pembury in a friendly ahead of the league’s resumption.

Midway through the first half, Will Graystone received the ball behind the high line of the Reigate defence, sent the keeper the wrong way and slipped it past his right-hand side to open the scoring.

Wells retained possession and won a couple of short corners through the excellent Jack Garwood, but were unable to convert them.

After half-time Reigate began to press higher up the pitch and Tunbridge Wells were unable to get the ball out of their half with any conviction.

With 10 minutes to go Reigate went on the attack down the left side and were able to feed the ball across goal for a tap-in.

The 1-1 draw was probably a fair result after a game of two very different halves.
