THE FORUM, which celebrated its 24th birthday on Sunday January 15, began its celebratory weekend by helping to raise money for the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells’ charity of the year, Beat (Beating Eating Disorders).
The Friday night gig began with solo singer/songwriter Joanne Louise Parker, and the audience took heed of her request to stay silent and listen.
After the Mayor, Cllr David Neve, had introduced the Beat charity, there was more music from Americana group Ukelear Fallout and Higgs and the Bosons.
The headliners for the evening were The Breretons, who were performing ahead of their long awaited album launch in February.
The Forum would like to thank all the acts who played for free, and those who donated money to Beat.
Saturday saw an opening set from Tunbridge Wells band Lady Bird, followed by after a warm-up reggae-based DJ set from Don Letts.
Then a party erupted as Londoners Rotten Hill Gang raised the roof with their unique sound of ‘rap ‘n’ roll’, a mix of punk, funk and hip-hop.
The venue has also launched a blog to capture memories and memorabilia ahead of the Silver Anniversary next year. Visit www.theforummemories.wordpress.com
