We’ve got the whole world in our hands…

    Tonbridge Carnival 2

There will be music and dancing in the streets of Tonbridge this Sunday when a procession, big bands and other local groups take part in a procession down the High Street.

The Tonbridge Carnival has been held annually for more than 30 years, and for the past 27 years has been organised by the local Lions Club with support from Tonbridge & Malling District Council.

The theme for this year’s carnival is ‘Countries of the World’, which will ensure a colourful combination of cultures on display from all over the globe.

The carnival will get underway with the Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Concert Band playing by the Watergate entrance next to the river from 11.30am to 12.30pm.

The carnival procession will assemble in the Sovereign Way North car park, and the groups and charities taking part will start parading down the High Street at 12.30pm.

This will be followed by a fete on the castle lawn and along Castle Walk, during which there will be entertainment and a prize-giving ceremony.

Funds raised on the day will go towards helping disadvantaged people in the area.
