TUNBRIDGE WELLS Ladies 1st XI had to dig deep to secure a draw at Chelmsford.
Starting in confident fashion, the visitors passed well round the back and utilised the team’s midfield speed.
The sides were equally matched until a short corner was adjudged against Tunbridge Wells. Chelmsford slipped left and slotted the ball in the goal to open the scoring.
Wells Captain Jen Hunt’s short corner was slipped right to Amy Hare and she returned it neatly to Hunt, who outfoxed the opposition’s defence to equalise at half-time.
Wells opened the second half with fierce focus but an error led to a short corner for Chelmsford, who took advantage to take the lead 2-1.
The visitors battled on and Nelia Bekker picked the ball up in deep midfield, pinging it up to player of the match Becky Bradbury. She took it on the reverse and utilised some silky skills to round a Chelmsford defender and calmly slot home an impressive goal.
There was pressure from both sides as they tried to secure the three points. Wells had a short corner at the final whistle but could not find the backboard.
It was a well-deserved draw as the side look to secure their place in the table.
