AT THE age of 26, a Tunbridge Wells man has become Managing Director of an independent book publisher. Following a rapid rise, Joshua Brown has taken the top job at How2Become.com four years after he started off at the Kent firm with a job of packing customer orders for dispatch.

After taking the role of Operations Director in 2016, he won the IPG Young Independent Publisher of the Year award thanks to a record year of turnover for the company.

Mr Brown will now steer the business for a long time to come. He said: “It’s an honour to be given this opportunity. I am very much looking forward to working with our great team here at How2Become in order to continue the growth of the business, and also serve our
customers and readers with the best possible books and services we can offer.”

How2Become.com was founded by former Kent firefighter Richard McMunn in 2005, when he came up with the idea to write about, and provide advice on, how to join the
UK Fire Service.

The Kings Hill company soon established itself as publisher of careers information in general, and has issued advice on getting into the computer games industry, becoming
an airline pilot and joining the armed forces and security services.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr McMunn said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed running the business for the last 13 years, and feel now is the right time for Joshua to take the
company forward into its next stage of growth and development.”

Mr Brown took up his appointment as Managing Director at the start of this week [Monday October 2].
